The Colombian city of Medellin will be the scene next May 7-9 of the annual meeting of the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA), the Medellin Convention Bureau announced Friday.
For the past five (5) years, Medellin has held 17 international sporting events hosting over 13,500 people, without counting fans, who have chosen the city as their host city.
Colombia received the award as 2017 Best LGBT Destination at the last International Tourism Fair (Fitur), held in Madrid from January 18th to January 22nd. The award, handed over by Diversity Consulting International® – FITUR Gay (LGBT), recognizes the efforts made by the country in promoting tourism in this sector and private public collaboration that has been consolidated in different areas of the tourism chain.
During 2016, 87 events (66% are international) were held in the city, corresponding to 30% more than in 2015 which will produce estimated income amounting US$ 25M to be received between 2016 and 2021.
